Simple Cold Calling Script Will Make a Pro Out of You!
It's What You DON'T Say Your Prospects Hear! Although using a cold calling script like this when calling work at home leads, can make your job so much easier, there is a whole lot of things your potential client on the other end of the phone line will hear OTHER than the script you are using.
Believe me,They will hear if you are a desperate salesperson, a frustrated network marketer, OR a positive, happy person carrying themselves with authority and graciousness, and someone they want to follow. Believe it or not, your body language will carry across those phone lines, loud and clear.
Remember, you are simply calling them back to get them more information on what they already asked for..and a simple cold calling script will just help make it easier, especially when you are just starting out.
If you need to leave a voice message, use this simple voice mail script. So, first of all... relax and SMILE when you are on the phone. Have a tablet handy to take notes of your conversation as you may THINK you can remember everything they tell you, but when you hang that phone up, nine times out of ten, you will NOT remember all the things you talked about, ESPECIALLY once you get GOOD at using a cold calling script.
I like to start out with this... Hello “prospect's name”, how are you doing today? (pause just for a second...but not long enough for them to start asking questions)...This is “your name”, I'm giving you a call back to get you that info you had requested about working from home. What can I do for you?
 IF THEY deny asking for anything, I like to say something like... Oh, it shows here that you filled out a short form online looking for more information about making money from home. Is that something you are still interested in doing?
IF THEY INSIST that they didn't ask for anything, and haven't hung up yet! I usually just tell them Oh I'm sorry, we must have incorrect info here, but here's my number in case you know of anything wanting to make some money from home. Lord knows who you might run into tomorrow! (insert chuckle – grin) And I give them my name, number and website.
You will want to have your own url that is short and easy to remember even if you have to get a short, catchy one at Godaddy and simply forward it to a company replicated one. It is embarrassing to have to give someone a website that goes something like www.yourname.companyname.com/businessopp/andabunchofnumbers !
If they say anything positive, I like to tell them at this point to grab a pen and paper. (even tho I will ask THEM some questions before I give them my information, it will give them something to do and tends to relax them a bit.
I'll say something like “Hey do you have a pen and paper handy? To save us both some time I'd like to ask you a few questions to figure out what info to direct you to.
Here are some simple questions to ask when using any cold calling script:
- So, are you working from home right now? If they say yes, ask them what they do and if not, ask what they do for a living. and remember that each question can lead up to a bunch more if you are truly interested in getting to know them and find out what they want.
- How long have you been ….?
- What do you like about …?
- Is there anything you don't like about …?
- So are you wanting to replace that income or are you looking for something to supplement that?
- Do you have a family? Kids?
... here you have to be wise and cautious... you can tell if they want to talk your ear off about their kids or if they seem to not want to talk about their family. With all the crazy things going on in the world today, I personally don't tell people I don't know anything about my family, so I rarely ask that question outright – rather I watch for answers that indicate they might have kids or a spouse and that is where I inquire a bit about family.
- Have you ever owned your own business or been self employed?
- Do you have any money set aside to help you get started in business for yourself?
- Do you have goals of where you want to be in a year or five years?
Using this part of the cold calling script can take as little as five minutes to as much as half an hour, depending on how much you are willing to listen! Most people WANT to talk about THEMSELVES if given half a chance.
Remember that this first call is NOT about you, and as much as you may want to tell them something that happened to you, you NEED TO MAKE IT ALL ABOUT THEM. For the most part, they could give a ***'s *ss about what YOU have done and how many kids you have.
At this point is a great time to kinda change from the kind next door neighbor, to the person with the answers and authority to change their situation.
It can go something like this...”You know, “prospects name”, from what you have told me so far, I think we may have something that could work for you, or be a good fit. It takes a bunch of work on OUR part to help someone get set up in making money from home successfully, so we are looking for folks that are absolutely serious about changing their life and start a home business. How serious would you say you are about that? No matter what they say...your response is … “Tell me why”
It is amazing sometimes how at this point you find out the REAL reason they want a change in lifestyle. Just listen....
Then say, Okay great, let me tell you a little bit about what I do from home....tell them a little bit about what you do from home or whatever your company advises to tell people on the first call … then ask them if they still have that paper and pen.
Have them write down your number and name, and I like to ask if they have internet access as we speak. (99% of people do and half of them are on the internet as you are speaking with them) I have them pull up my website right there so I know they have the right page.
If they can't get to the internet right away ask for their email, and let them know you are going to send them a link to some information where they can start doing research. Or a recorded call, however your business is set up. The whole purpose of using cold calling script like this is to help us stay on track. It won't always go the same but using the script, especially when calling work at home leads, can help you stay on top of things and not forget stuff.
Set up a follow-up date and time. Will you have looked at this information and have your questions ready if I give you a shout back tomorrow, let me see... I have either a 9am or 3pm slot available tomorrow where I can get your questions answered and see where we want to go from there.
By now you will have built some sort of rapport with your client and the follow up call is fairly easy to make.
